Welcome to NBA OnlineNation.  ALL 2K/Live- ALL DAY

OnlineNation
by - NYCDAFUTURE

Remember the days when we were playing NBA2k for Dreamcast Online? It was smooth online even though it was on a 56k modem back in those days. The servers were good, able to save playbooks, lineups,  and coach sliders. We had different Leaderboards and Rank Lobbies. If the hardcore players wanted to play a rank HOF aka HALLOFFAME then they were able to.. For the casual gamers they had the option to play in Pro/ AllStar Levels. The option to play to your level was great and they had different leaderboards for each one so it can be more competitive. Also in those days gamers were able to chat/type in the lobbies to get a game next, talk trash, find an Online League or get a Sim game going. Gamers could look at their opponent win%, their DNF aka Disconnects and quits, their Feedback% to have alil feedback to see if you going against a cheeser or a Sim guy. They had their VIP system for gamers to look at etc. All of this was great for Online.. They had this method until NBA2k8 which was the last year. NBA 2k9 was watered down a lot online but was still able to save playbooks but no lobbies. NBA2k10 that is when it turned terrible for the Online Experience.

NBA 2k10 wouldn’t allow to save playbooks, coach sliders, etc. The servers kept on dropping continually with Network Errors. There used to be a drop-glitch since dreamcast where it would give you a lost if they drop while you winning it was a known cheat but 2k couldn’t fix it.

2k Gamers on sites like 2ksports, Operationsports etc has been complaining about their Online Product for years but there hasn’t been an improvement. Offline has been their main focus with their Myplayer and NBA Legends. I mean I understand it is a business and its good to have those modes. The problem is though when you strip down all of the Online Modes, water down the servers, cant change Jerseys Online, no Online Leagues, Teamup rarely works and if it does everyone quits within a few minutes if gamers don’t like who they randomly got, rank games are a joke, and then take out the Crew Mode witout telling their consumers b4 they purchased 2k12?? Yea that is a big problem.

I remember back in the days when Rank and being top 10 actually meant something for a gamer. They used to have the NBA2k ALLstar tournaments for 25G’s, 2k9 they had a weekly tournament. Rank games they were based on an ELO System. It was about who you beat not who can have the most games to be in the top. Check the NCAA Football game that is out now, check NBA2k6 for the Original Xbox, Check Fifa 12 Ranking System. The problem we have is that 2k had all of this correct years ago and then out of nowhere they just stopped. Please tell me why? Well that is why the NBAOnlineNation is here. To address these problems, to reach out to the 2k Devs, to finally start making Progress to this Bad Online Era.

Lets make this a Movement… We are all here to make a game or games better it is that simple. When you play an Offline game, don’t you wonder why online feels like you are playing a different game? It just shows so far 2k has been catering to the casuals for online. It is supposed to be about Skills. Lets bring that ERA Back into 2kGaming.. NBAOnlineNation is the New Movement.

NBA 2K13 Online Improvements

1. Server : This has to be 2k's main focus for NBA 2K13.  Reason being is because 2K dropped the ball on online last year.  Matter of fact 2K online hasn't been the same since 2K8 -2K9.  2K must update their server or invest in a new one to minimize  the number of network errors and reduce the wait time for connecting to an opponent.

2. Crew Mode : This may have been 2K's most popular mode in the game and they took it out without any real reason to why they did.  2K needs to put this game mode back in the game not only because of popularity but because the mode will help drive sales.

3. Lobbies : Another obvious improvement 2K has to make to online is to implement lobbies again.  2K should bring back the 2K8 styled lobbies where there was a HoF lobby, Superstar Lobby, All Star Lobby, Rookie Lobby, and Street Ball Lobby.  This would help players find games faster and allow players to play on their preferred skill level.

4. Leaderboards : The 2K leaderboard needs to be fixed to where skill is accounted for and not the number of games one plays.  2K needs to follow the model of NCAA football leaderboard  which uses the ELO rating system. This is where each player has a rating, which is a number. A higher number indicates a better player, based on results against other rated players. The winner of a contest between two players gains a certain number of points in his or her rating and the losing player loses the same amount.
5. Online Association : This is another mode 2K took a major step back in.  The online associations just arent as fun as the old 2K leagues.  Online association is definitely a nice mode but just needs to be fixed up some.  Some things 2K should fix in the mode are they need to give admins the option of running a flexed schedule league or not.  Flex scheduling was a big part of online leagues and by 2K taking it away in 2k12 it hurt the online association mode.  In addition to that 2K must bring back the old admin controls, where admins had full control over their leagues (approving trades, adding re-adding players to the league,  advancing the schedule, resetting games).  One last thing 2K should do to online association is to allow it to be a 8 player, 14, or 30 player association without the need of cpu filled teams unless a player drops.
6. Spectator Mode :  Wouldn't it be great to watch an Online Association playoff game as spectator?  Yes, the community has been begging 2K to put this in the game for the past 5 years.  Spectator mode would allow players to get a front row seat to an association game and let them feel as though they are part of the game.
7. Saved Playbooks :  This is another thing 2K took away from online gamers, the option to save online playbooks.  This is vital to any  online gamer.  Reason I say that is because of that dreadful 3 minute timer 2K gives players in the pause menu to set up all the in game adjustments.  If one has 5-10 plays they wish to set up they may not be able to get it done due to the timer or because they wish to make other adjustments.
8. More Camera Options :  We all love 2K, Broadcast and Beluba cameras, but 2K needs to offer a wider selection of cameras that can be used online.  One of my favorite cameras that I cannot use online is the High camera.  In addition to that side and nosebleed should be included in online camera options.
9. Better Match Making :  Lets be honest NBA 2K's match making system is terrible.  You either get matched up with a player that's a total novice, one that is a quitter, or a decent player.  2K needs to take a look at the NCAA Football  match making system where every player is giving a rank.  2K skill ranks could go as follows Rookie, All Star, SuperStar, and Hall of Famer.  So lets say im a Hall of Famer the match making system should try to match me up with other Hall of Famers or Superstars.  This would be a plus for the online gamer that wishes to play a competitive game and for a rookie that wants to play somebody that is also new to the game.
10. 2k Online Tournaments : Bring back the NBA 2K All Star tournament.  VirginGaming tournaments are great but nothing compares to the official all star tournament.  2K should keep the VirginGaming tournaments option in the game but should improve it to where you don't have to go on the computer to find a match.
